For our holidays last summer we wanted to experience an all-inclusive resort in Spain. We found Clubhotel Riu Gran Canaria a good option considering its price and facilities. The main difference with other all-inclusive hotels in the Region is that Clubhotel Riu offers family rooms, making your stay cheaper.

The staff of the hotel is great. Reception staff was always ready to help us and the guys at bars were always in a good mood and ready to serve whatever drink you wanted.
The food at the restaurants was not great but it was good enough for all inclusive standards. The bars had a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer was on the tap so you did not have to wait to be served.
The hotel has five pools, two in the main area, one more secluded, one for kids (with a ship and dragon offering fun for kids) and one infinity pool facing the ocean. Our youngest kid loved the water slides in the pool for kids and our eldest son loved all other pools.

The hotel also offers a kids club (although most of the staff speaks in German because the guests are mainly German), a football yard, a gym and a spa.

We even had the opportunity to take one day to explore Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. While the experience renting a car with Avis in Gran Canaria was a nightmare, we still had the opportunity to visit the historic part of the city. The main attraction is the museum “Casa de Colon”, with several rooms explaining Columbus trips to America (Columbus made a stop in Canary Island before continuing the journey to America in 1492). There is also a beautiful medieval church and a nice pedestrian area full of shops and restaurants.
