Citizen M Shoreditch. New is always better.

We’ve recently stayed at this new hotel. And it was fantastic! This hotel is a recent addition to the other two properties that Citizen M has in London. Located about 500m away from Liverpool street station, the hotel has very good transport links to all central London. And while the street where the hotel is located may look a bit dodgy, the neighborhood is nice and there are plenty of restaurants, shops and supermarkets nearby.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening and the ambiance of the place was something amazing. A nice bar, good music and a speedy check-in, which you can almost complete on your own with minor assistance from one of the staff members. I know the check-in probably took 30-40 seconds more than the 1 minute they promise at their website. But, who can complain?

The service at the front desk and bar is fantastic. They are a bunch of young people with a lot of enthusiasm, always with a smile and ready to offer the best service. Warning: If you are used to traditional five star hotels with classic music in the lobby, standard room with carpeted floors, this is not the place for you! But if you are open minded and like to stay at a nice place with good service, Citizen M Shoreditch is definitely a place to try.

The lobby has a cool decor. It is a strange mix of a living room, a bar and a Google office.

The rooms are also an interesting experience. Huge bed, floor to ceiling windows (the view is not great, though) and you can control everything in the room (lights, TV, air conditioning, wake up call, etc.) from an iPad. There is also a large selection of free movies.
